ME 433 Project 2 (Due April 27 5pm) 2D Lid-Drive Cavity Use SIMPLE, or fractional-step-type method or a commercial software (e.g., Ansys FLUENT) to solve dimensionless incompressible N-S equations: ( ) 2 1 Re 0 p t  + = − +    = u uu u u where Re is the Reynolds number Re, and the dimensionless length L=1. The internal flow is driven by the right-moving lid on top with a dimensionless wall velocity 1 1.0u = (1,2 represent x and y direction, respectively). In the report, two cases will be considered: Re=1 and Re=500. You need to plot 1. Velocity field distribution (u and v component) along the centerline of the cavity locates at x=0.5. 2. Streamlines 3. 2D velocity (vector) field and (scalor) vorticity ( u v y x    = −   ) field. 4. The format the report will be similar to report 1, including sections of Introduction, Method (if you code it), and Numerical results. For people using software, you need to write a section on how to use the software step by step. * If you code it yourself using computation programs (Matlab, Fortran, or C++), you can receive 10 bonus points. * For Ansys FLUENT, we provide the link to a website from Cornell for your self-study: https://confluence.cornell.edu/display/SIMULATION/FLUENT+Learning+Modules You can use this or COMSOL https://www.comsol.com/ The computer lab should have both software for free to use.
